Kaztechnology, in partnership with IEC Telecom and JSC Passenger Transportation, has launched Starlink satellite internet on Tulpar-Talgo trains operating on the Almaty–Mangyshlak route. The project is aimed at improving passenger service quality and advancing the digital infrastructure of railway transportation in Kazakhstan.
Since January 2026, trains on the Almaty–Mangyshlak route, which has a travel time of 2 days 6 hours 10 minutes, have been equipped with stable internet access throughout the journey. The new solution allows passengers to stay connected, use digital services, and enjoy a more comfortable travel experience during long-distance trips.
As part of the project, a real-time video surveillance system was introduced in the trains for the first time, including access to video archives through a dedicated application. Data protection is ensured in line with modern information security standards.
Passengers also have access to the multimedia portal vputi.kz, which offers HD movies, music, and e-books. The project marks an important step in the digital transformation of passenger rail services and the introduction of advanced international technologies in Kazakhstan’s railway sector.
